Taking Payments In Person

Taking In Person payments using our most common methods (Hosted Checkout and Embedded Checkout) have the same general flow, as follows:

• The cashier will operate in the system of record, in some capacity, to select items to be paid for and finally electing to check out the selected items.
• The system of record will make an API request to hand off the cart to PaymentExpress. PaymentExpress will return information about the cart that was created.
• The system of record will use the chosen integration to display the checkout and PIN pad activation process to the cashier. The cashier will activate the PIN pad through this integration, prompting the customer to tap, insert, or swipe their card.
• Through one or more means of Payment Reconciliation, the system of record will be notified of the payment for the transaction by PaymentExpress, completing the process of the payment in the system of record.
